Brazilian student director
Born in 1991 in Recife, Thor Neukranz is the son of a German immigrant father and Brazilian mother. Despite the natural ease of communication and interest in art, he studied agricultural and environmental engineering at UFRPE until 2014, when he decided to embrace cinema. During this period, a movement known as #OcupeEstelita, engaged a struggle against real estate speculation in Recife. To this end, they used audio-visual tools. "Recife, Cidade Roubada" and "Novo Apocalipse Recife" are two of the important videos of the movement that Thor was part of. He is a member of the Coletivo Mujica, which organizes debates through THCine to peripheral parts of the city about Brazilian drug policy through documentaries such as "Cortina de Fumaça" and "GRASS". In 2015, he began his academic studies on cinema, as well as theater and audiovisual production. However, the watershed was the experience with Ateliers Varan in 2016, there he finally acquired the skills and support needed for his training as a filmmaker. Thus he made the film "Quand On Trie" (Dibuiar), selected by the International Documentary Festival in Cevennes in 2017. The same year, he decided to follow the cinema and audiovisual course at UFPE.
