French director and photographer
Catherine Rechard is a photographer and documentarian from the Paris region. After studying art history, she began her career in studio photography before transitioning to reportage work for the press and publishing industries. She joined the photographer agency Signature at its inception and later attended the documentary filmmaking course at Ateliers Varan, where she further explored the themes she had been pursuing in photography through documentary cinema.
Rechard continues to produce photographic reports and conducts workshops (including discussions, programming workshops, or practical sessions) related to her film and photography projects. She has been a member of the association Addoc since 2012.
In 2007, with support from CNC's scriptwriting aid, she directed her first documentary, Une prison dans la ville. Her second documentary, Le déménagement, received a SCAM star in 2012.
To date, Catherine Rechard has directed eight documentaries that have been recognized in numerous festivals. They all share a common denominator: representing the human experience. Her upcoming film, Extramuros, une peine sans murs, portrays individuals who have been sentenced.
