Synopsis

This documentary follows the daily work of a metal spinner – a metalworker and craftsman – in his 19th century Parisian workshop. With very few words and no voice-over, the film immerses us in a craft from another era, by following its sole surviving practitioner.

Alicia Harrison

Director

Born of a French mother and an American father, Alicia Harrison grew up in New York City before moving to France in 2000. She studied philosophy at the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Lyon, while directing her first short documentary films. In 2007, she took the film direction course at the Ateliers Varan. She then worked as a scriptwriter, cameraman and director’s assistant on different documentary projects. She finished her first feature documentary, "Taxiway", in 2013. She now teaches film studies at Université Paris-Nanterre.
