Grégoire Darrasse

Director and photographer

Born in Tours in 1982, Grégoire Darrasse developed a deep passion for both analog and digital photography from a young age. After working as an electronic music composer for many years, he eventually focused on the aesthetics and construction of cinematic images. He pursued a career as a first assistant camera operator and then as a director of photography for ten years, collaborating with filmmakers such as Jalil Lespert, Xabi Molia, Nils Tavernier, Jean-Xavier Delestrade, and Martin Provost. His ongoing interest in photography led him to direct his first documentary film, ==En attendant l'été==, in 2016 through the Ateliers Varan. This film explores the role of human beings in society, with a particular focus on the concept of the body in motion, margins, and human limits. In late 2016, he joined the Idéal Crash collective alongside Frank Ternier and worked on the short film ==Animal Party==. Alongside his filmmaking activities, he conducts educational workshops at film festivals. His genuine desire to support both fiction and documentary filmmakers, such as Olivier Besse and Jean-Pierre Vedel, remains a priority. He is also preparing a photography exhibition in Tours, his hometown.
