Director' s comments
Our film is about the square Voltaire, which is at the junction of the cities of Asnières and Gennevilliers, in the northern suburbs of Paris. Gennevilliers, former working-class city, has been by the history of immigration, and still leaves a glimpse of its old industrial zones. Through the memories of locals and merchants, this square unveils the social and urban upheavals which are at work, thus proceeding to the gradual erasure of memory – the memory of workers, communists, immigrants…
